Control engineering (also control technology) is a subarea of engineering sciences and automation technology. Control engineering deals with the question of which means can be used to adjust technical systems to meet requirements. The aim is to influence certain physical variables (e.g. temperature, speed) with the highest possible accuracy. In order to adjust different controlled variables within a system in the course of a controlled system, control engineering uses sensors, measuring sensors, measuring elements as well as controllers and actuators. Control engineering forms an interface between engineering science and computer science.
