Heating rate

« Back to Glossary Index

The heating rate is a measure of the efficiency of electrical generators (e.g. generator, electric motor) that convert fuels into heat and into electricity. The heating rate is the amount of energy consumed by an electrical generator to produce one kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity. The lower the heating rate of a system, the higher its efficiency and energy efficiency.
