The term tech­nol­o­gy trans­fer can take on var­i­ous mean­ings. Pri­mar­i­ly, tech­nol­o­gy trans­fer stands for the trans­fer and pass­ing on of tech­ni­cal know-how be­tween var­i­ous part­ner­ship-ori­ent­ed par­tic­i­pants (com­pa­nies, in­sti­tu­tions, states, etc.) with the aim of cre­at­ing added val­ue and us­ing it for in­dus­tri­al process­es. Char­ac­ter­is­tic fea­tures are a goal-ori­ent­ed, planned and sched­uled ap­proach as well as com­pre­hen­sive con­tracts that reg­u­late the rights and oblig­a­tions of the par­tic­i­pants. The top­ics and con­tents of tech­nol­o­gy trans­fer range from the pure trans­fer of knowl­edge to the trans­fer of process- and ma­chine-ori­ent­ed instructions.
