The term Predictive Monitoring is a synonym for Predictive Monitoring, the anticipatory monitoring of machines, plants and processes. Closely related to predictive monitoring are condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. Condition monitoring involves the use of measurement, testing and visualization technology and is used to detect faults in machines, systems and processes at an early stage in order to rule out their failure. Sensors record important influencing factors (vibrations, temperature curves, etc.) and transmit the corresponding data to evaluation systems. Predictive maintenance is the further development of preventive maintenance and aims to activate the maintenance case only when de facto necessary. Digital condition monitoring systems are primarily used for this purpose. The measures of predictive maintenance are described in DIN EN 13306.
